Lord I can’t forget it It’s tucked so deep away That sweet silent whisper That we all call yesterday And I’ve been away a long time lord I don’t know what to say Soon as I’m back It all feels just the same So let’s give away the past It don’t got nothing to say Doomed to repeat it Well that sounds better than today And let’s give away the past It just keeps on dragging heels The time we take to forget That’s how long it takes to heal When we give away You see nostalgia's like an uncle Who just drinks away and steals Like the yearning Christmas morning that we all wish would stand still But don’t you give into his charms don’t you let him settle down The time that you need him he won’t be back around To stay So let’s give away the past It don’t got nothing to say Doomed to repeat it Well that sounds better than today And let’s give away the past It just keeps on dragging heels The time we take to forget That’s how long it takes to heal When we give away When we give away When we give away

Tears 03:42
How can I make her smile When I’m the cause of her tears? And why would she forgive me now After all those rotten years? It’s time like these I say God please, Put out the fire between us We can’t start again, or be just friends There’s no way to delete “us” It’s coming soon I feel it now And she’s so tired it’s not the end, it’s just beginning Remember way out west, when things were still good? Where’d did that go, Did we leave in the city? The wind picks up leaves Shaking boughs, lifting up, green Stems of things we can’t hold back The purple spots of fights we’ve lost And all the times you said you go back home And leave me here And all the shit, the plates you’ve thrown, how you feel You’ve made it clear It’s coming soon I feel it now And she’s so tired it’s not the end, it’s just beginning Remember way out west, when things were still good? Where’d did that go, Did we leave in the city?
3.
Staring at pictures of the Vegas Eiffel Tower In Reno Nevada Nursing a hangover that wouldn’t go Sitting in the shower I know, I should probably get home But I’d probably still feel alone I’m high, I’m dry, Checkered hats and car coats Givenchy heels on a weathered ghost The heat keeps people from getting to close The fever that took grandpas life It’s got me in a trance I know I tried to get healthy once But I don’t think it’s coming back Fuck me, my friends turned to family And that’s when I needed them most But most the things you love, you lose And the remnants haunt you like a ghost So excuse me please I’ll have my vodka soda in peace And stare at pictures of the Vegas Eiffel Tower In Reno Nevada
4.
The possibilities is keeping me hungry Please don’t let me down The way Mephistopheles, he’s my Achilles My friend I’m bound for hell again I feel It, the gnawing, the writhing The end And Were going without a fight Cause We’re so damn tired The pale-ish landscape of the moon Your face wears it so well I might swoon Don’t pay any mind, to the words I spout When it gets bad, I’m glad to have you friend I feel it, the gnawing, it’s not so bad But we’re going without a fight Cause we’re so damn tired
5.
I'll stay besides the window And make notches for the days you're gone And I’ll leave the front door unlocked In case you’re coming home I’m blowing all my money Wasting all my time Waiting for you to come back And jump into my arms 'Cause I’ve had so many long forgotten nights Since you went running, Since you’ve been lost And I don’t how much longer I can do this But until I hear that your dead or happy I’ll keep putting myself through this Down on Prescott I drank a fifth of Smithwick's Then I passed out in the street holding pictures of you and me I keep the bottle close, and the stoker closer I haven’t been sweeping the ashes The house is a disaster I Called Mary up and asked where you went She heard my voice and asked my name then she simply said "away" I don’t know how much longer I can do this I’m grasping at straws, every day is a further fall 'Cause I’ve had so many long forgotten nights Since you went running, Since you’ve been lost Why’d you have to leave the day I got paid And now the works all gone away, all I do is sit home and say.

about

Bailey Allen Baker is a singer/songwriter who performs mostly solo sets, sometimes performing with a live band. His studio recordings for his debut are best described as swampy, lyric driven, alt western tunes - often the songs being driven by his baritone voice - the live performances range from turned up, fast-tempo crooning to weepy, introspective ballads.

Q&A with Bailey Allen Baker about his debut EP "Palish Landscape"...

What inspired the album?

"I wanted to make a swampy western album as a love letter to Marty Robbins, The Flying Burrito Brothers, etc. I also wanted to make an effort to bounce back and forth between modern and cliched themes. The songs are a lot of fun to play and it seemed like a good Whitman's sampler to debut with."

Who produced it? What was the recording experience like?

"Palish Landscape is written and arranged by Bailey Allen Baker and produced/engineered by Shadrach Tuck at Mishap Recordings.
It features Shadrach Tuck on Bass, Tanner Tuck on Drums, Frankie Tillo on Electric Guitar, and was mixed and mastered by Joshua Lewis.

The album was recorded in a basement during election week in Nov. 2020 in Boise, Idaho."

What do you want people to take away from the album?

"Hopefully a smirk, and a tear if we’re lucky."

Was there a theme you were trying to capture? A story you were trying to tell?

"See first question about the album (inspiration)"
